I’m proud to endorse Marshall Tuck again for California State Superintendent.
I endorsed Marshall Tuck because the public school system in California needs real change. As an outsider, he is the best candidate to bring us that change. We must close the achievement gap so that every child in California has the chance to earn a great education and succeed in life, and Tuck will focus in on that.
Marshall Tuck has an extensive background in education, and in the Los Angeles area. He served as President of Green Dot Public Schools, a non-profit that manages a chain of charter schools. He then served as an education advisor to Mayor Villaraigosa. He next became the founding CEO of the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, a school turnaround collaboration between the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District. This partnership eventually included 17 struggling elementary, middle and high schools in some of the most impoverished neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
Marshall worked to reform the schools under the Partnership, and raise graduation rates for students and improve academic performance. Now he’s running for statewide office to improve schools and help students across California.
Marshall Tuck has both the educational expertise and public service experience to serve California as our next State Superintendent, which is why I am proud to endorse him again.
