I recently launched my re-election campaign for Los Angeles County Supervisor. I wanted to share with you my thoughts, and humbly ask for your support again.
Over the last six years, we have accomplished so much both for the Second District and County. We have led efforts to improve public transportation with the construction underway of the Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Line. As a strong advocate for healthcare, I undertook the building of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, which after a lot of hard work, is poised to open in just a few months from now. Finally, over a thousand new high quality affordable housing units have been built through public/private partnerships with five hundred more units in the pipeline. All this progress has been amazing to watch, but there is still more work to be done.
Together we can protect our children by combating the scourge of human sex trafficking, strengthen families by creating jobs and revitalizing neighborhoods, and build a sense of community in which all share prosperity and opportunity. Together, let's keep the momentum moving forward.
My success is directly tied to the support from community leaders and stakeholders like you, and I hope that I can count on you to be with me again.
Earlier this month I was in Selma, Alabama to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery march. I was reminded of the struggle that was fought to secure the right to vote. It's important for our democracy that we exercise this right.
I have an opportunity to expand upon the progress we've made and do even more in the coming years, but I can only do it with your support. If you believe like I do in the future of Los Angeles County, please take a moment to sign up for email updates from the campaign, follow me on Twitter, and Like me on Facebook. Please share with friends as well, so we can spread the word together.
Thank you again for all your support.
